What a great prompt Emily (and Amanda!) And yes, it is different, deeper and richer than, I'm proud of myself for...I will be using it tonight during reflection time. Thank you both.
Adam Smith, in the Theory of Moral Sentiments, touched on this. We want to be loved, but even more to be love-able, worthy of love and respect, from ourselves and others. (If I'm capturing the gist of Smith. I have heard Russ Roberts talk about this several times on his podcast Econtalk. I've also read the named book. It's worthwhile.)
Thanks for adding that reference and context, Dad! That made me "hm" out loud--aspiring to be worthy of respect from self and others. I've not read Adam Smith but this recommendation puts him in my sights.
Gah! I'm so glad you saw this and commented so you could get appropriately credited. I saw it at the top of a journal page you shared about your sobriety journey and (obviously) loved it. Because I couldn't remember who to credit, I said 'stranger' but now I know it was a 'friend'.

Love this! Implementing this tonight!
So glad! If you have a chance, I'd love to know how you like it (as you try it over time)!

That was my note, Emily. I am that stranger! Nice to 'meet' you :)

And here is the greater context behind this journal prompt:

TY for the back story.
Going to reread and find a framework conversation to have my son (freshly 40) give it proper thought.
Appreciatively,
