This feels like a good one for a new week.
Going through something hard?
Wishing a relationship was different, that everyone on God’s green earth would share your opinions, that you didn’t have the health challenge you do?
Try saying this, and meaning it:
“It is what it is.”
Because it—the situation—is what it is. It might be different at some point in the future, but it’s not at this exact point.
These five words—“it is what it is”—are like a period ending a sentence (a literal or figurative one), allowing you to start a fresh, more empowering one.
And for me at least that feels a whole lot better than arguing with current reality.
Here's to your big dreams, and to really living. See you in the next one…
Thanks Emily! Love this simple post. I have adopted a term from my Jamaican friends along the same idea. All is well.
Good one Emily! It is what it is Enough said!
