Okay, so I was recently in a movie. As an extra, but still.
I was “background” (that’s what they call them in the biz) in a Hallmark Channel Christmas movie. For the first time in my life, I was a server, unwieldy plastic tray, black apron, and all. And somewhat proficient at it by the end of the long day.
The entire day was such a fun and fascinating dive into a whole other world, and you’d better believe I’ll do some more of it.
Here are a couple take-aways from the day:
Some (much?) of the production crew is “day play.” They are dreamers and entrepreneurs like us, finding ways to do more of what they love even if it’s not their full-time thing yet.
Anyone can do it. Yes, it takes some guts to put yourself out there. But showing up with a “fake it until you make it attitude” is the hardest part of the day; the rest you just figure out on the fly.
Below is a quick audio of how I got there (not literally—I drove), making “set friends,” and my favorite life lesson from the day.
Here's to your big dreams, and to really living. See you in the next one…
“I didn’t know what I was doing” is pretty close to the story of my life.
I would really like to know what movie this is so that I can watch it!!
